Volcanic ash, horse chestnut and frankincense are just a few of the innovative ingredients in beauty products being showcased in the Innovation Zone at this year’s in-cosmetics Asia from 2 – 4 November.
The products - sourced from countries around the globe including China, Japan Singapore and South Korea, are either being launched by exhibitors exclusively at show or have been launched within the last eight months.
Following the successful launch of the Innovation Zone at the 2010 show, the feature will be even bigger this year, with more products to see, touch and feel. It will attract marketers, formulators and R&D specialists keen to source new ingredients and draw their inspiration from the latest cutting-edge products.
Latest Ingredient Launches & Demonstrations
There will be over 30 display boxes spotlighting the very latest ingredients, from well-established brands to exciting newcomers. These include Arch Personal Care Products with ReGeniStem™ Red Rice; a sustainable anti-ageing active derived from Himalayan Red Rice that is cultivated in a bioreactor; Ashland Singapore Pte Ltd with Zenix™ Phosphate Ester, a surfactant that offers new formulation options for conditioning shampoos; Bioland with BIO-FRGE, an extract of Korean Red Ginseng fermented by Kimchi Lactobacillus for anti-ageing; and Brenntag Specialties Inc with Soft Sphere LL 8210 - Lauroyl Lysine Modified, a spherical shaped fine silica powder which imparts a smoothness and fine touch to cosmetics.
New for 2011, there will also be a series of 30 minute live ingredient demonstrations from exhibitors where DSM Nutritional Products, Galaxy Surfactants, Indena and Merck, will present their products in more detail.
Beauty Innovations and the Elements
Visitors to the Innovation Zone will also have the chance to touch, feel and try the latest beauty innovations in an interactive display in association with Mintel Beauty & Personal Care. The theme will be the elements Air, Water and Earth - reflective of the new trend by beauty companies to use oxygen, carbon, special water and other earthly elements as cosmetic ingredients.
The use of oxygen and oxygenating actives continues to evolve in Asia, France and the US, likewise water from spas, thalasso centres and Alpine sources are the basis of several European spa and pharmacy brands, with Asia the emerging source for water. Carbon (Fullerene, C60) is an active found in new Japanese skincare launches and claimed to be a powerful anti-oxidant. Other earthly elements include Mud (kaolin clay) traditionally used in face masks; perlite which is used in deodorants and nail colour, plus other volcanic and sedimentary actives.
Within the ‘Air’ category, products on display will include Faberlic’s, Oxygen Repair Hair Serum, which contains the oxygen complex Novaftem-O2, vitamins B3 and B5, sasanqua and avocado oils, and keratin proteins to help care for the scalp and repair hair structure. Eva Steinmeyer München ESM’s, Red Carpet Concentrate contains anti-ageing skincare range whose main ingredient is fair trade, sustainably sourced and organic argan oil from Morocco, claimed to provide intensive moisture and unique cell protection to reduce wrinkles.
Under the element ‘Water’ part of the range of The Face Shop’s White Tree Snow is Vita Lightening Serum, containing an extract of vitamin C-packed Finnish vitamin tree and the mineral rich spa water of Yuzawa in Japan to moisturise thirsty skin and add a dewy glow. Also Tjoy’s Men Oil Controlling Moisturiser (Step 3) which contains aesculus and witch hazel to control oil, clear pores and remove excess oil.
‘Earth’ products will include The Pore Minimizing Indian Clay Masque by KeSARI Beauty, formulated with sacred herbal and fruit extracts, spices and beautifying flowers to bring harmony to mind, body and soul. Also Natural Science Skin Solution with Skin79 Whíte Reviving Skin Radiance Mask Sheet, made with international patented mandresy extract, brightening niacinamide and baobab extract and Fucogel-1000 to provide moisture and form a skin barrier.
